Marketing and Public Relations Portfolio
The McCarthy Law Firm
The McCarthy Law Firm came to me requesting a new website that was clean, professional and functional. This project was a particular challenge as their original site was built on Wix. I first migrated their site to WordPress, then began to design their new site. What resulted was a single scroll site with a clear theme and direction that conveys the professional work you can expect from this boutique law firm.
Aurora Cafe and Bakery
A local bakery was eager to create a web presence that matched their offerings—fun, playful, and memorable.
We collaborated on theme colors and the best way to display their unique food offerings, resulting in an easy-to-navigate website they can update whenever their seasonal menu changes.
Project Graduation
Bishop Miege High School holds an annual Project Graduation to celebrate graduating seniors. This event relies primarily on parental volunteers and fundraising efforts. Prior to this website creation, there was no place to house the (many) documents and sign up info for parents to stay informed and get involved.
The creation of a single scroll site helped collate the necessary info for parents and students. This project was completed on a budget and the parents were so thrilled with the results I have been commissioned to re-up the site each year.
Lori Shank
One of my colleagues was looking for helping developing a professional online porftfolio for her doctoral dissertation. We collaborated on the projects needs and design aspects, resulting in an online portfolio that reflected Lori’s professional experience and personal style.
The League of Women Voters of Riley County
MC 645: PR Campaigns is the senior capstone course for public relations students. Our client was the League of Women Voters of Riley County, who wanted to work with us during the 2016 Presidential election in order to increase local voter turnout. In particular, we noticed Millennials struggled to make it to the polls. After researching their attiutdes, we devised a unique campaign based heavily in satire that resulted in incredible success.
Friends of Animals Inc.
In my MC 382: PR Strategies course, a group of us were assigned to work with Friends of Animals Inc., a local non-profit, meaning we had to utilize every free source available! It was a challenging but worthwhile lesson in free media and promotion. It was also very rewarding, their donations increased substantially after our semester of work. These were the results of our project.
Marketing Writing

The Center for Engagement and Community Development
In my role as Feature Writing Intern, I reported on engaged partnerships between Kansas State University and the community. I’ve interviewed quite a few faculty and community leaders on various projects, grant proposals and events. When published, these stories are sent out in our nationally circulated biweekly newsletter to keep our contacts updated on the work we facilitate.

The Office of Assessment
When I was hired as the Communications Assistant, the team at the Office of Assessment was looking for a way to communicate their accomplishments and highlight the assessment work of K-State professors. I created a newsletter to promote our events and developed a monthly “Faculty Spotlight” section that focuses on the work of university professors. To date, this newsletter has received over 2,000 page views.

The Collegian
Working as a Contributing Writer, I tried to cover as many topics and areas of interest as possible. The piece that I’m most proud of was one that I wrote during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I was fortunate to interview a survivor, who graciously dispelled any misconceptions about abusive relationships. I felt very honored to speak with her and share her story with K-State.
