One of my favorite movies in the world is “Up.” I could watch that movie hundreds of times and never grow tired of it.My favorite character is all of them, but I guess if I had to pick, Ellie would be a top contender. Right from the start, we quickly learn Ellie’s goal.

Ellie’s childhood dream is to move to a cliff in South America overlooking Paradise Falls. I mean, why not, right? I love that attitude toward the great unknown, wanting to explore a place you’ve never been to before. So maybe it’s time I started following in Ellie’s lead.

I’ve wanted to study abroad for who-know’s-how-long. I was already looking into it as a senior in high school. Now, I’m 22, and it’s high time I bite the bullet and go.Enter Prague.

Prague looks like a fairytale. Ever read The Chronicles of Narnia? It reminds me a little something of that.

Be still, my heart. Now, it’s finally happening. Aside from three days in Canada, I’ve never left the U.S. before. And to be honest, it still doesn’t feel real yet. But here we are.

I’ll be in Prague for a semester, soaking up the language like a sponge (hopefully) and exploring as much of this beautiful place as I can. I’ve also signed onto a few other weekend excursions; Vienna, Budapest, Berlin, Dresden and Krakow. Who knows? That list could just be the beginning. I sure hope so.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long, but I’m finally embracing my inner Ellie, exploring a new and beautiful place, with My Adventure Book in hand.

If you have any tips for a soon-to-be study abroad student, I’m all ears! I only sort of know what I’m doing.

But, in the spirit of Ellie…
